Sunday Post #148

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer (image above belongs to @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer). It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I am also linking The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance of Readerbuzz where bloggers discuss what they are reading and other bookish topics.

Life

I'm slowing getting a bit more of a social life and I'm loving it! Hopefully Covid-19 won't return with a vengeance to mess it all up again. Monday I'm starting pottery lessons again, I love being able to create something and it's very relaxing! The perfect end to a busy Monday.

Blog and books

I've finished The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, incredible writing style and a very vivid description of depression. This will be a book I will think about for years to come. I'm glad I finally read Plath for the first time.

I didn't read that much this weekend, so it's starting to seem unlikely that I'll be able to finish Crying in H Mart anything soon as I have only read 14 pages so far.

Movies and TV Shows

I am watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, started by watching the first season for the second time and started the second one this weekend as well. I forgot how much I love that show. I also continued The White Queen this week and had fun watching Parasite, one of my favourite films again.

Life

I had a busy week teaching but I'm also slowly getting to know some new colleagues. Starting in a new workplace is always a bit stressful but I think I'm starting to get a hang of it. This year, though, I will have a lot of work, I also hope to balance my free time more. We'll see how it goes.

Blog and books

I'm still currently reading The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, I'm  hoping to finish it next week. For my challenge of reading a classic and a non-fiction book every month, I will probably reading Crying in H Mart as well. If I have time left, I hope to read The Woman in the Purple Skirt this month as well.

Movies and TV Shows

I decided to watch The White Queen again, so I can watch The White Princess. I like these shows because they also show some English history. Aside from that I also watched three documentaries, one about Rasputin, another about Tutankhamun and the last one about Diana. I love watching documentaries about historic events and people and hope to watch more of them in the future.

Life

The last couple of weeks have been crazy, I had a lot of job opportunities and calls which made the past weeks incredibly busy and stressful. I had a lot of difficult choices to make, but in the end settled for a great school where I can actually teach the courses I studied. Another plus is the fact that it's quite close to where I live and I can easily take the train. The schoolyear has officially started and I believe I will be busier than last year but hopefully it will be more fulfilling as well!

Blog and books

I finished Anna Karenina! Such a fantastic book! I just started The Bell Jar, quite different so far but I'm enjoying it too! I will probably read The Woman in the Purple Skirt this month as well, if I have the time.

Movies and TV Shows

I watched a couple of films these past weeks, Anna Karenina (with Keira Knightley) which I thought wasn't a great adaptation because of the theatre style (which would fit an actual play but made the story more confusing to watch). I also watched, Queen, Pagglait (both good Netflix films) and my favourites Wadjda and El faro de las orcas. I watched these last four films because I wanted to watch more films not set in the U.S. or in the U.K. to get to know different cultures. Do you have any other recommendations?
