Life

Another hectic week has passed, my brother has tested positive and we still live in the same house, so I've been so nervous and careful this past week but will I be able to escape it even though we do live in separate rooms for now? The situation is driving me a bit insane.
On top of that my teaching job is only getting busier as well, I'm already starting to feel like I'm dragging myself to my next holiday.

Blog and books

I finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks this weekend and I had such a great time listen to the audiobook. Highly recommend this non-fiction and the listening experience as well. I plan to listen to Invisible Women next but more non-fiction audiobook recommendations are welcome!

Movies and TV Shows

I didn't watch any films this week but I did watch The Masked Singer and some more episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, this last one has turned into a bit of comfort show for me. Do you have any of those? I could use more ;)

Also, a new discovery, I love the Great Pottery Throwdown as well! A fellow student potter recommended it to me. It's so fun to see how creative you can be with clay. I still have so much to learn but my class often relaxes me a bit. I just wish I could do it more often.

Life

I luckily tested negative this week, so I could go back to work on Tuesday. Never been so happy about a negative result!

Blog and books

I finished Of Mice and Men this weekend. It was a fascinating book, even though it was rather short I felt got to know to charachters well. It's rare a book almost makes me cry but my eyes watered at the end. Can't recommend this one enough! I'm hoping to read more Steinbeck soon.
That said the book is dated and does contain racist comments and words, which did make me uncomfortable at times.

Movies and TV Shows

I watched BlacKkKlansman yesterday and was blown away by this film. It's an important film that should have gotten more awards. It's so frustrating and downright scary that such people/groups still exist today. It's one of the best films I have seen so far this year.

Life

Life has been busy and crazy these past two weeks, I'm currently in quarantine until Tuesday because of a high risk contact at work and since I only got the booster the same day, I had to go home on Friday :( I've been taking a test every day and really hope I won't end up seeing a positive result, so far so good, though. It's not fun to teach from home when your students are at school, though.

Blog and books

So far I have managed to read two books this year, Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut and How Do You Live? by Genzaburo Yoshino. I liked both but I don't think these will be new favourites.

I have also started three other books The Daily Stoic, which I plan to read every day, Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig and a new audiobook, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. I've been enjoying listening to biographies and can always use some recommendations!

Movies and TV Shows

I recently watched Gaslight (the British version) because Stephen Fry recommended it on a Belgian TV show, so how could I resist? I highly recommend it as well!

I also started watching the Antiques Roadshow on the BBC again and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Really enjoying both of them.

Life

Happy New Year! I wish you all a great year full of hope, love, books and peace!
I hope you had a lovely Christmas as well!

I have been busy with making creating in my spare time in order to relax but still feel productive. I'm thinking about maybe putting them up for sale, I don't think it will be very lucrative but I think it's an experience worth having.

Blog and books

I didn't manage to read all the books I wanted to read in December and only ended up reading 48 books this year (a low number for me). However, I read a lot of great books and I did succeed in my personal challenge to read more nonfiction and classics.

These are my favourite books of 2021, in no particular order, although, Anna Karenina, Know My Name, Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead and Lonely Castle in the Mirror were my absolute favourites which I still vividly remember. I can't recommend them enough!

Which were your favourite books last year? Leave a comment or a link down below!

Movies and TV Shows

I have watched some fun films these past weeks, like La Famille Bélier and I rewatched some old  favourites: Roman Holiday, How to Steal a Million and The Shop Around the Corner. Yesterday I watched Men & Chicken, probably the strangest film I have ever watched, still not sure what to make of it.

I also caught up on some TV Shows: The Mandalorian (love the baby!), Loki, Wandavision (can you tell I just got Disney Plus?). The Mandalorian is definitely my favourite show I watched on it.
