Top Ten Resolutions For 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is top ten bookish resolutions of 2016.

1. I want to be a more active blogger
I'm not too pleased with the layout of my blog and I need to write more reviews and posts in general, I would like to have at least 200 blog posts in total by the end of 2016. I also should overcome my shyness enough to add a picture to my profile and link my Goodreads account to this blog.

2. I want to read more adult fantasy books
In particular, I want to read books by Brandon Sanderson, Michael J. Sullivan and Patrick Rothfuss. Additionally, I want to read more Robin Hobb and Scott Lynch books (I'm currently reading Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb, so I'm already working on this resolution). I will already be pleased if I just read a bit more from this genre, these particular authors are just a bonus.

3. I want to finish at least 5 series I started to read before 2016
This can also mean reading all the published works in a series if the series is unfinished.

4. I want to read at least a third of the books I already own
I want a less extensive TBR pile, even though I quite like the fact that I have so many unread books at my disposal to choose from at any given time. This resolution has the most potential to fail, I believe, but let's hope for the best!

5. I want to read at least 5 books released in 2016
I hoping to read Truthwitch and The Dark Days Club at the latest in February and I can't wait!

6. I want to read at least 3 classics
I'm hoping to read more than three but I'm not going to pressure myself into that, if I'm not in the mood for than I'm not going to read it. I wrote this before Christmas, and I actually received four classics! Peter Pan, The Great Gatsby, Great Expectations and Moby-Dick. Hopefully I will at least read half of these!

7. My Goodreads challenge will start at 70 books
I've read 112 books this year, I've never read so much in one year before but I believe I will be busier next year and I can still adjust my challenge, like I did last year.

8. I want to write more book to movie adaptation reviews
I quite liked writing those and since I named my blog Lynn's Film and Book Review, I should definitely write a little bit more about films and TV shows as well. This seems like a good way to start doing that.
I originally didn't read as much as I do know, therefore I had the idea to write a blog about films and books. However, as I've been reading more, I've been watching less movies and TV shows.

9. I want to read the following urban fantasy books

Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
Written in Red by Anne Bishop
Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

I already own them, so this counts as resolution 4 as well.

10. I want to read at least one book of these which I own and I've been putting off reading, even though I know I will love them

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

There are more books that I should add to this list but this top ten is already long enough, so I'll leave it at that.

Do you have any resolutions for 2016? Let me know down below!

  2. Oh, yes, link your Goodreads. I love having book bloggers on my Goodreads. These are all very good and resonable goals. I wish you all the success in completing them. Happy 2016.

    1. Thank you! I do believe I will link my Goodreads pretty soon, I probably put it off for so long because I'm relatively new to it.

  3. These sound like wonderful resolutions! I'm hoping to read more widely and to finally read some of the classics that have been sitting on my shelf for ages too! Good luck with all of your goals!

  5. You should definitely start with the Mistborn trilogy for Brandon Sanderson (I think it must be one of the only series that are finished now) and then you can jump into the spin-off series (I think he'll finish it this year, but not sure). I'd actually love to read a Robin Hobb book, because my parents love them all so I should! I agree with two anticipated books you talked about, I'm beyond excitment for the Dark Days Club and Truthwitch, I can't wait to have them in my hands! Good luck with your resolutions :)

    1. Oh, good to know! I was considering starting with Mistborn or Steelheart, but now I think I'll go for Mistborn first! I like Robin Hobb but her Farseer trilogy is very slow paced and more character driven which I don't mind. Yeah Truthwitch and The Dark Days Club!! 2016 is going to be an amazing reading year!
