My Bookish New Year's Resolutions

Better late than never, right? Since I have exams this month, I won't be able to post a lot but you can follow me on Twitter, Instagram and Goodreads to have some updates. These are my New Year's resolutions.

1. Goodreads challenge

I talked about this before but my Goodreads goal is to read 30 books (I hope to read way more but I don't want to feel pressured).

2. Read the Backlist Challenge

This is the first time I am participating in a challenge and I'm really enjoying it so far. I want to read the books that have been on my shelves forever like Vicious, Ready Player-One, The Bookthief and Fangirl. I say this every year but it never happens. This year will hopefully be different! I'm proud to be a Dewey Dragon, by the way!

3. Read 5 books over 500 pages long.

4. Read at least 5 adult fantasy books

5. Read at least 3 classics

6. Read at least 5 literary fiction books

7. Don't buy too many books when I don't have the space to store them

This is becoming a real problem. My shelves are too full and I have no space to add another bookshelf. A booklover's life is difficult!

8. Write at least 100 blogposts.

I almost got there last year (94 blogposts) but my teaching practice schedule was insane (I basically did it in one semester but ideally it is spread over two) and I wasn't able to blog and read as much as I wanted.

9. Catch up on my Netgalley reads.

I now have 20 books approved and still need to read and review five of them. My current ratio is 75% which is not bad but I want to read the others before I request new books. The only problem with this is that I can't access most of these any longer and they are long overdue. I feel bad that I haven't read them yet.

10. Be more active in the book community!

I love this community and I feel like I'm doing better now that I have Twitter, Instagram and I am participating in a challenge, but I like to be even more active. The problem is, I don't really know where to start.

Top Ten Resolutions For 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is top ten bookish resolutions of 2016.

1. I want to be a more active blogger
I'm not too pleased with the layout of my blog and I need to write more reviews and posts in general, I would like to have at least 200 blog posts in total by the end of 2016. I also should overcome my shyness enough to add a picture to my profile and link my Goodreads account to this blog.

2. I want to read more adult fantasy books
In particular, I want to read books by Brandon Sanderson, Michael J. Sullivan and Patrick Rothfuss. Additionally, I want to read more Robin Hobb and Scott Lynch books (I'm currently reading Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb, so I'm already working on this resolution). I will already be pleased if I just read a bit more from this genre, these particular authors are just a bonus.

3. I want to finish at least 5 series I started to read before 2016
This can also mean reading all the published works in a series if the series is unfinished.

4. I want to read at least a third of the books I already own
I want a less extensive TBR pile, even though I quite like the fact that I have so many unread books at my disposal to choose from at any given time. This resolution has the most potential to fail, I believe, but let's hope for the best!

5. I want to read at least 5 books released in 2016
I hoping to read Truthwitch and The Dark Days Club at the latest in February and I can't wait!

6. I want to read at least 3 classics
I'm hoping to read more than three but I'm not going to pressure myself into that, if I'm not in the mood for than I'm not going to read it. I wrote this before Christmas, and I actually received four classics! Peter Pan, The Great Gatsby, Great Expectations and Moby-Dick. Hopefully I will at least read half of these!

7. My Goodreads challenge will start at 70 books
I've read 112 books this year, I've never read so much in one year before but I believe I will be busier next year and I can still adjust my challenge, like I did last year.

8. I want to write more book to movie adaptation reviews
I quite liked writing those and since I named my blog Lynn's Film and Book Review, I should definitely write a little bit more about films and TV shows as well. This seems like a good way to start doing that.
I originally didn't read as much as I do know, therefore I had the idea to write a blog about films and books. However, as I've been reading more, I've been watching less movies and TV shows.

9. I want to read the following urban fantasy books

Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
Written in Red by Anne Bishop
Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

I already own them, so this counts as resolution 4 as well.

10. I want to read at least one book of these which I own and I've been putting off reading, even though I know I will love them

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

There are more books that I should add to this list but this top ten is already long enough, so I'll leave it at that.
