Stacking the Shelves: Netgalley Book Haul

Stacking the Shelves is a meme co-hosted by Reading Reality and Tynga's Reviews. Each week bloggers share the books they got. These are the books I got from Netgalley this semester. I've gotten a lot of pdf files in the beginning and some more now as well and I have to say that I have a lot of trouble reading those. Which is why I am behind on my Netgalley ratio. My ratio is now about 63%. I've been incredibly busy with my teaching practice lately and it seems it will only get worse. I barely have the time to read, let alone blogging... Can't wait for Christmas to have a break (break meaning time to study for exams).

1. Waking Gods (Themis Files #2) by Sylvain Neuvel

Pdf file, sooo I still need to read it. If it had in another format, I would have read it already.

2. Anne of Green Gables: A Graphic Novel by Mariah Marsden and Brenna Thummler

This graphic novel was wonderful! You can find my review here5 stars! And Brenna Thummler actually tweeted me back twice!

3. The Ghost of Gaudi by El Torres

I love Gaudí, so when I saw this graphic novel on Netgalley, I just had to read it! 3 stars. You can find my review here.

4. Taproot by Keezy Young

3 stars, you can find my review here.

5. Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story by Debbie Tung

Loved this graphic novel! 4 stars! Highly recommend it! You can read my review here.

6. How to Be Perfectly Unhappy by Matthew Inman

Hmm, still not sure about my rating... Check out my thoughts here.

7. Disney Manga: Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas by Jun Asuka

Love the movie, hope to read the manga soon!

8. The Little Red Wolf by Amélie Fléchais

Really excited to read this one! The illustrations look gorgeous!

Which books did you recently get? Have you read any of the ones mentioned above or are you planning to? Leave your thoughts down below!

  1. PDF books are so annoying to read. The font is almost always just a little bit too small for easy reading and it makes the book take longer than it ought to.

In spite of that, looks like a great haul for you. Hope you enjoy your books and have a great weekend. - Katie

    1. Thank you! PDF books usually hurt my eyes after a couple of pages, and so it definintely takes a lot longer to read them.

  4. Aw man, sucks about your NetGalley ratio. I've only ever lost one book that way, the others are still on my Kindle, but since there's over maybe 60 of them, I also have trouble catching up. My ratio is like 46% though.... so it could be better!
But it's so cool you got Waking Gods, I really want that series. And Anne is incredibly enjoyable! I've also heard good things about Taproot. And wait, The Oatmeal released a book? :0

    1. I don't own a kindle, I own a Kobo e-reader and I think that's why most of my Netgalley arc's are PDF's.
I hope to read Waking Gods soon though!
I didn't know the Oatmeal before I read his comic.

  5. Waking Gods looks really interesting and super different. Don't worry to much about your ratio, when you have more time to read it will be going up! :)

    1. Thanks! I hope to read it soon! That's true but since I don't own a kindle, the books are gone after 50 days and I'll have to purchase them...

  10. I'm interested in Waking Gods and I hope to get to that soon. I have a nice stack by my bed, but I just ordered a book called The Marsh King's Daughter based on another blog I read who said it was the best book he's read this year. Had to buy it. Awesome list!
