Life

I have been rejected for some more jobs and Friday evening I got a call saying I have a two-week teaching job (again a very long way from home) but I have to teach English and French. French! I haven't spoken French in years and now I have to teach it while other schools reject me for not having a degree in my native language, I now have to teach a language I barely speak. Not looking forward to that at all. On top of all this I caught a cold.

Blog and books

I finished my first book of the month, Every Heart a Doorway. I started Mirage on the train but I haven't read much so far. I hope to read more despite the slump.
This week I posted a Can't Wait Wednesday post and an August Wrap Up. I have not found the time to catch up to and replying to comments but I will do that as soon as possible.

Movies and TV Shows

I finished watching Secret and Oh My Ghost. Currently watching and enjoying It's Okay, That's Love. I also watched Hidden Figures which was incredible! I highly recommend the film and I hope to read the book soon!

August Wrap Up

As you might know, I'm in a massive reading slump which started in August. This means I didn't read all that much in August and I believe September will be even worse. All things considered, I'm still happy I read four books last month!

1. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

I wanted to read this because I wanted to watch the movie as well and a book about a literary society sounded like perfection. I didn't end up liking this one as much as I hoped I would. I believe the epistolary format and the first slow half of the book had something to do with that. I gave The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society 3 stars but I do prefer the book over the film.

2. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang 

This was fun but a lot more erotic than I anticipated. I really liked the characters. 4 stars.

3. I Think I Love You (Oxford, #5) by Lauren Layne

To be honest, I barely remember anything about this book. I gave it 2 stars.

4. Take It as a Compliment by Maria Stoian

This is a very hard-hitting graphic memoir about real life experiences of sexual abuse, violence and harassment. I highly recommend it but be aware of these trigger warnings. 5 stars.

Life

I am still applying to jobs but I keep being rejected mostly because I don't have a Dutch degree. It's still a bit depressing, but I figure, one day they will not have that many teachers left to pick from and hopefully I get my chance then. I do enjoy the three hours of Spanish I teach on Monday evening.

Blog and books

I read a little more of Every Heart a Doorway, I hope to finish it on the train tomorrow. I'm planning to reply to all your comments early next week.

Movies and TV Shows

I've been watching one of my favourite Korean dramas so far, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, it's soo cute and positive! Definitely my favourite thing this week! I also finished Oh My Venus and started watching Secret.

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Bingeworthy TV Shows

Let's start with some Korean drama. 

1. What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?

This is a very cute romance Korean drama. 

2. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

I loved this because it plays with gender roles.

My two favourite Spanish shows at the moment:

3. La Casa de Papel

A group of criminals plan to commit the perfect heist. I was constantly on the edge of my seat!

4. Las Chicas del Cable

A romantic historical series, the third season comes out on Friday.


5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

A classic I can't get enough of!

6. Firefly

This is an amazing sci-fi series that should have had multiple seasons but I still really recommend the first one!

7. Sense8

Another series that should have had more seasons but I finished each season in three days. It is amazing and so diverse!

8. Sherlock 

I do not need to explain how brilliant this show is, do I?

9. Stranger Things

I can't wait to watch the next season!

10. Godless

A feminist cowboy series that blew me away! A must-see!

Life

After applying for several jobs, I was finally told I could teach Spanish for 5 hours a week in two different locations. One location was close by and the other takes me more than an hour to get there. The day after, unfortunately, I was told that the teaching job at the closest location wasn't available anymore. So now I will only be teaching for 3 hours on Monday evening for about two months. Things really are not going my way lately. But I guess it's better than nothing.
I want to thank everyone for your kind messages on my last Sunday Post, it really helped!

Blog and books

I read one comic and about 70 pages of Every Heart a Doorway.
I posted a Can't Wait Wednesday Post and a Stacking the Shelves Post. Next week I will post my August Wrap Up.

Movies and TV Shows

I'm still really enjoying watching Korean dramas. They take me away from my depressed thoughts and stressful moments. This week I finished Secret Garden and started watching Scarlet Heart Ryeo and Oh My Venus.

I also watched the 2016 version of The Magnificent Seven with my dad, which was fun.

3. A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer 

Netgalley e-arc. I'm really excited to read this but sadly this is a pdf file and I really struggle to read those.

4. Dance of Thieves (Dance of Thieves #1) by Mary E. Pearson

I really enjoyed The Remnant Chronicles and I can't wait to read this story set in the same world!

5. Death Note Box Set (Death Note #1-13) by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata

This box set is gorgeous and I simple couldn't resist!

6. I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo

This purchase was entirely caused by my discovery of Korean dramas!

7. Lyrical Ballads by William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge 

I love these editions!
