Life

I went to the theatre yesterday with my parents and grandmother. The play was great, a modern take on Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. The acting was superb. The thing I liked the most, though, was how happy my grandmother was to have the opportunity to see it. That really made my day!

I have been feeling very down this month, I hate it but I can't seem to change it. A lot of this has to do with work, the last couple of weeks I have become terrified of failing, something I wasn't before. That is why yesterday evening was such a welcome reprieve. I really should get out of the house more often.

Blog and books

Currently reading Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff but for some reason I have a difficult time focusing on the book. This is most likely caused by my mood, but this makes me feel worse because I really want to enjoy it!

Movies and TV Shows

I watched On the Basis of Sex this week and really enjoyed it. It was wonderful to see how supportive they were of each other, that's something that should be highlighted more in relationships.

I also started watching Gran Hotel, it's a Spanish period drama murder mystery with some romance in it. I was hooked from the first episode! Perfect for fans of Las Chicas del Cable! Do you have any Spanish film or TV Show recommendations?

Life

First of all, I want to thank everyone for your kind words last week! I'm feeling a little bit better but stress can still overwhelm me. I think it will take some time to get over this thing. It's making me doubt myself when it's not really necessary. I hate feeling like that and hate it even more that that was someone's intention. People can be horrible. However, I'm fighting back in my own way and I will succeed in time.

Blog and books

In this mess, I did find more time to read, it was the only thing I actually wanted to do but work gets in the way of everything. Still it was great to put my mind off work by reading. I finished Serpent and Dove on Friday and I truly loved it! It's one of the best books I read this year. It made me feel better when I needed it to and only good books can do that.

Movies and TV Shows

I watched the film Neruda and while I enjoyed it, I was also a little confused at times. I think I would have preferred a film that only focused on true events.

Currently listening to Time from the Inception soundtrack on repeat. I don't know why but I often do that since the film came out. I could listen to it all day.

Life

Feeling very down and anxious this week, I'm not going to into details but it's work-related. Teaching adults can be very difficult. Luckily I did spent a fun day with a friend yesterday and was able to keep my mind occupied with something else for some time.

Blog and books

I finished The Dragon Republic and I loved it! Not quite sure what I will read next, it might be Well Met or Serpent & Dove. My Darkdawn pre-order still hasn't arrived, so I'm not sure when I will be able to read that.

Movies and TV Shows

I finally went to see the new Lion King film yesterday! I enjoyed it, the animals were so vividly animated, the music was fantastic of course and there were some new and fun elements to the original story.

Last week I also watched Falling Inn Love, it's definitely not a great film but I did have fun trying to forget everything else.

What do you read or watch when you are feeling down? I will need a lot of recommendations!

Can't Wait Wednesday: Frankly in Love (Frankly in Love #1) by David Yoon

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and talk about the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. It's based on Waiting On Wednesday hosted at Breaking the Spine.

Frank Li is a high school senior living in Southern California. Frank's parents emigrated from Korea, and have pretty much one big rule for Frank - he must only date Korean girls.

But he's got strong feelings for a girl in his class, Brit - and she's not Korean. His friend Joy Song is in the same boat and knows her parents will never accept her Chinese American boyfriend, so they make a pact: they'll pretend to date each other in order to gain their freedom.

Frank thinks fake-dating is the perfect plan, but it leaves him wondering if he ever really understood love - or himself - at all.

-- Goodreads.com description --

This sounds like a fun read! I've been wanting to read more Korean inspired books.

Which books are you excited to read? Recommendations are always welcome!

Life

I started teaching again this week and I will start teaching Spanish again tomorrow evening. I'm a bit nervous to see if the groups will be as great as the one I had last year. At least I have Fridays off at the moment and I can have a relaxing start of the weekend.

Blog and books

I'm still reading The Dragon Republic. I only had time to read on Friday and now I've read about 60%. Can't wait to continue but want to do so when I have the time to finish it.

Movies and TV Shows

I finally watched the third season of La Casa de Papel! It was enjoyable but I prefer the first two seasons. I'm still not convinced the third season was necessary. I also finished the latest season of Las chicas del cable but sadly it couldn't really capture my attention this time.

Life

Tomorrow my teaching life starts again, I did get the job I applied for last week but I had to cancel because I will be working part-time as a Spanish teacher in the (evening) school where I worked last year as well. I'm ridiculously happy my assignment there has increased and I be will doing this for the entire year!!!

I went to the coast again, to celebrate this news. Had some lovely dinner and fed my caramel coffee addiction with the fantastic latte caramel (this caramel coffee addiction thing started this month, and now I cannot simply walk passed a Starbucks anymore).

Blog and books

This week I finished Venetia by Georgette Heyer and I enjoyed it. I'm currently reading the sequel to The Poppy War, The Dragon Republic by R. F. Kuang. It's really good so far!

Movies and TV Shows

I watched Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time yesterday and really enjoyed it!
