Broke and Bookish Secret Santa

I participated in the Secret Santa program of the blog The Broke and the Bookish. I received my Secret Santa package a week ago, I believe and I loved it! I would like to thank my Secret Santa however I can't seem to find her username on Facebook. So I decided to write a blog post to thank Sanna. I don't know if she'll read this but if you do Sanna, please let me know!

I especially loved the Sherlock necklace and the book of course, which is Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I'm wearing the necklace on Christmas Eve to show it off to my family although I'd be surprised if they'd notice (spoiler: they didn't).

Where did you find the Sherlock necklace by the way? It's fantastic! The candy was so nicely wrapped, it was a shame to open it!

I don't have pictures of the package I sent, however I can definitely tell you guys what was in it! First of all, I picked two books from the list, which were The Young Elites by Marie Lu and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I didn't add any jewellery though now I wish I did because damn that Sherlock necklace is great! I did choose some candy from my region. I haven't heard from my person yet however, I would really like to know if she enjoyed my package!

Or even just any book by Juliet Marillier!

Top Ten New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015

Richelle Mead
Richelle Mead is my most read new-to-me favourite author! I actually read 10 of her books this year. 10! I'm really looking forward to read more of her books next year because I'm definitely not done with her yet!

Shanna Swendson
I've read 5 of her books this year, all part of The Enchanted Inc. series and I loved all of them. And Owen! Probably one of my favourite characters this year!

Margaret Atwood
I've only read The Blind Assassin but I was completely blown away with it! I've been wanting to read an Atwood book for a while now, and I'm glad this one was part of my Canadian Literature class! Looking forward to reading more of her books in the future!

Jeffrey Eugenides
The Virgen Suicides. Do I need to say more? Absolutely fantastic! I've purchased his two other books and I hope to read them soon!

Ilona Andrews
The Kate Daniels series was the perfect way to end my summer! Currently, I'm actually reading Clean Sweep and I'm really enjoying it as well! Review to come!

Uprooted fit perfectly in my fairy tale retelling mood and was in my humble opinion one of the best books I read in the genre!

Really, really enjoyed Daughter of Smoke and Bone. It was so original and refreshing although I haven't really felt much desire to pick up the other books in the trilogy yet, it will happen soon! (Hopefully).

Anthony Doerr 
All the Light We Cannot See. Beautiful book. Kind of wanted a different ending but I can see why it ended the way it did. 

Andy Weir
After reading The Martian in September, I became unable to leave Andy Weir out of my top ten lists. Therefore, as an extra I'm adding him to this one too.

1) Me Before You

I'm probably most looking forward to this one! I read the book years ago but the story still grips me. Also, an amazing cast!

2) Black (directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah)

This is a Belgian movie adapted from a Belgian book Black written by Dirk Bracke. I read the book when it came out and I absolutely loved it! Can't wait to see the movie! The movie is in French and if you get to chance to see it, I don't think you will regret it!

3) Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

4) Deadpool

5) Suicide Squad

6) Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

I decided to do both because I couldn't come up with ten books in one category.

1. Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

I really liked Cruel Beauty! I'm waiting for Crimson Bound to come out in paperback but I'm considering buying it in hardback after all! Read my review of Cruel Beauty here!

2. The Duff by Kody Keplinger

I really liked this book, it is one of the best books I read last year! Read my review here!

3 Sophomore Novels That Were Better Than The Author's Debut 

1. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

All the books in this series just get better and better! Winter is also my most anticipated book of the year, and I can't believe I don't have to wait much longer till it's released! Read my series review here.

2. Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

The first book in this trilogy was okay, not great but okay. The second book was way better and the third book was the best! Read my review of the trilogy here!

3. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Shatter Me didn't impress me much, I only continued the trilogy because I owned all the books already. I did like the other books way more, so that's why I decided to put Unravel Me on this list. Find my series review here!

November TBR

This is a very ambitious November TBR, I'm hoping to read at least half of them, so without further ado, I will reveal my November TBR.

1. Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb

2. Four by Veronica Roth

First of all, I started reading Assassin's Apprentice in the beginning of October, however, with all the books I was required to read for university, I wasn't able to finish it. I hope to finish this one early on in November, though.

Four by Veronica Roth is a loan from a friend, so I need to read it so I can return it. I was also hoping to read it in October but the universe had other plans for me.

I did get till page 282 in Assassin's Apprentice, so it shouldn't take me too long to finish it.

3. Cockroach by Rawi Hage

4. Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald

The next two, I'm also required to read for my Canadian Literature class, so far I've already started Cockroach (I'm currently at page 114), and I need to finish it before the fifth of November, so that won't be a problem.

Fall on Your Knees, is a very long book and I don't really know what it is about, so I'm hoping I will like it because otherwise it will undoubtedly cause another reading slump. I need to finish this one before the 26th of November, and I will finish it!

5. Winter by Marissa Meyer

I've pre-ordered Winter, so I hope I will find myself reading this one quite soon! So excited! But also sad that this will be the last book in the series...

6. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo 

7. The Sin Eater's Daughter by Melinda Salisbury

I actually really wanted to start reading Shadow and Bone when it arrived in the mail, however, I thought I should finish the books I was reading at the time first. I can't decide if I should start this before or after reading Winter. We'll see!

The Sin Eater's Daughter is also a loan from (the same) friend, and just like Carrie, she hasn't read this one yet. I need to finish her books before the end of the year, not because she really wants them back but because I feel that I shouldn't take months to read three of her books. We don't see each other regularly but we do need to return each other's books sometime.

8. Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

This one is definitely wishful thinking, however, I've been wanting to pick this one up for a while, so it might happen. I like having a lot of choices, so that's why I included this one in my November TBR.

I'm hoping to read the first five books on this list, all the rest will be a bonus!
