Huge End of 2016 Book Haul

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews. Each week bloggers post the books they purchased or received. This is my December book haul. Some books I bought myself and others I received as gifts for Christmas or New Year's Eve.

These are the one I got myself:

1. Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Sooo excited about this book! I got the hardcover and it's simply stunning! The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favourite series and I can't wait to read Wires and Nerve!

2. Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1) by Leigh Bardugo

3. Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #1) by Leigh Bardugo

I'm really excited to read this duology!

4. The Girl in 6E (Deanna Madden #1) by A.R. Torre

I've heard some good things about this book and while this is totally not my genre, I am excited to read it!

5. We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson

I've heard so much about Shirley Jackson, and the book I decided to read first! Can't wait!

This month I also decided to order an Owlcrate box and because I just couldn't get enough of subscription boxes, I ordered FairyLoot as well.

6. Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst

This hardcover was in my Owlcrate box. I'm a little disappointed because I've heard some pretty bad reviews about this one and I feel that doesn't go well with the theme of the box, which was 'epic'. If you want to know more about this box, please let me know in the comments.

7. Flashfall (Flashfall #1) by Jenny Moyer

As you can see above, this book was in my FairyLoot box :) absolutely love this subscription box! I actually couldn't resist and ordered the January box as well, because "Treat yo self"! :p

I actually haven't heard much about this book but I'm excited to get to it! I'm hoping to read it in January!

8. City of Thieves by David Benioff

I got this book from my uncle as a Christmas present together with a dvd of Fargo!

This year I also participated in the Secret Santa project hosted by the blog The Broke and Bookish! It was absolutely awesome! My Secret Santa is lovely
girl from Sweden! She got me some Swedish sweets and chocolate and needless to say they were delicious and totally gone already! :p

She also got me the following books!

9. The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey
10. Walk on Earth a Stranger (The Gold Seer Trilogy #1) by Rae Carson

Really excited about all of them! Thank you again Kimberly! You are amazing!

My family actually exchanges the most gifts on New Year's Eve, I got some fantastic books from my parents (thanks dad!), my grandparents and my great-aunt.

11. How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran

12. Giant Days, Vol. 1 by John Allison (Author), Lissa Treiman (Illustrator), Whitney Cogar (Colors)

13. The Trouble With Women by Jacky Fleming

14. You (You #1) by Caroline Kepnes

15. The Black Prism (Lightbringer #1) by Brent Weeks

16. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë

17. The Warded Man (The Demon Cycle #1) by Peter V. Brett

I'm really excited about all of these! I actually didn't expect I'd receive so many books this year, so I'm really pleased!

Which books did you get in December? Have you read any of the books mentioned above? Or are you planning to? Leave your thoughts down below!

Gilmore Girls Book Tag

This tag was created by Pucksandpaperbacks, which is a Youtube channel. I started watching Gilmore Girls this year and I completely fell in love with the show! Can't wait to watch the revival!

Lorelai - A character with a witty or sarcastic sense of humor

Kate Daniels from the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews

Rory - Your favorite classic

My two favourite classics are Pride and Prejudice and North and South.

Luke - A book you secretly love, but are afraid to admit.

The Gardella Vampire Hunters series by Colleen Gleason

Lane - A musical character

This is a difficult one, I'm going for Mik from the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor.

Dean- Your first book love (character or book you first loved!)

Ron Weasley

Sooki - A book you’ve devoured

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Jess- A book you love, that gets the most hate

I really enjoyed Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge, but there are a lot of mixed reviews out there about this book.

Miss Patty - A book that was ruined by the hype

Allegiant by Veronica Roth, the ending got spoiled for me.

Emily Gilmore - expensive book

My Folio Society copies of Emma and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Paris - An uptight character

Mr. Darcy or Mark Darcy (Pride and Prejudice and Bridget Jones)

I finished watching Gilmore Girls yesterday and I can't wait to binge-watch the revival! I'm team Jess! Which team are you on? Let me know down below!

Tome Topple Readathon TBR

I was planning to participate in the Tome Topple Readathon this month. Although, I know now that I'm going to be incredibly busy the coming weeks, I'm going to attempt to read at least one of these books! I have made a selection of tomes that I own and might read. I like to have a big TBR, so I can choose which books to read according to my mood. The readathon starts November 18th and will end December 1st. During this time you’ll have to read books over 500 pages.

1. Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters #1) by Juliet Marillier

2. Secret History by Donna Tartt

3. Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken

4. In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken

5. Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb

6. The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson

7. The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith

8. Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon

9. Night Film by Marisha Pessl

10 War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

I'm excited about all of these books! Can't wait to read them! Are you participating in the readathon? Which big books do you plan to read? Have you read any of the ones mentioned above? Leave a comment down below!

Broke and Bookish Secret Santa

I participated in the Secret Santa program of the blog The Broke and the Bookish. I received my Secret Santa package a week ago, I believe and I loved it! I would like to thank my Secret Santa however I can't seem to find her username on Facebook. So I decided to write a blog post to thank Sanna. I don't know if she'll read this but if you do Sanna, please let me know!

I especially loved the Sherlock necklace and the book of course, which is Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I'm wearing the necklace on Christmas Eve to show it off to my family although I'd be surprised if they'd notice (spoiler: they didn't).

Where did you find the Sherlock necklace by the way? It's fantastic! The candy was so nicely wrapped, it was a shame to open it!

I don't have pictures of the package I sent, however I can definitely tell you guys what was in it! First of all, I picked two books from the list, which were The Young Elites by Marie Lu and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I didn't add any jewellery though now I wish I did because damn that Sherlock necklace is great! I did choose some candy from my region. I haven't heard from my person yet however, I would really like to know if she enjoyed my package!

Did you participate? Let me know what your Secret Santa gave you down below! I really enjoyed it and I'm definitely participating next year as well! Really pleased with the gifts I received and dying to thank my Secret Santa!
