Sunday Post #46

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer (image above belongs to @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer). It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Life

This is the first Sunday Post of the new year! I hope everyone is having a great 2019 so far! My grandmother was able to join us on New Year's Eve after all but we did experience some trouble getting her here. She lives with her sister on the third floor of an apartment complex and the elevator didn't work on New Year's Eve, so they wouldn't have been able to get down. Luckily the problem was fixed in about 30 minutes but I did panic at first.

I can't say the Christmas holidays have been as relaxing as I hoped they would be and tomorrow I have to start teaching again. I wish I had another week where I could just read and relax without having to deal with any problems but that's almost never the case.

Blog and books

I finished The Mad Ship by Robin Hobb and I loved it! I haven't read anything else this week but I did manage to post my top ten favourite books of 2018 and most anticipated reads of 2019.

I also started to catch up on comments and commenting back, I still have a lot to go through but I did make progress! I'm sorry it's taking me so long to get back to you but life just gets in the way. I miss the free time I had while I still studying.

Movies and TV Shows

I am currently watching and enjoying She Was Pretty. Netflix put a lot of kdramas online this week and I'll have a lot to watch in the future!

I also watched some Netflix Christmas movies and the three Hobbit films as I had only watched the first one before. The first one is still my favourite, I somehow wasn't that impressed with the second and third instalments.

What did you read or watch recently?

As always please leave some recommendations on what I should read or watch next!

If you enjoyed this review, please follow me on Bloglovin'TwitterInstagram, TVShowTime and Goodreads! I would really appreciate it!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

  1. Glad your grandmother was able to join you, and that the elevator problem didn't prevent that from happening. And I've never seen the 2nd or 3rd Hobbit films either! I kind of want to, but I've heard they're not super great?

    1. Thank you! I definitely liked the first one best! The second and third ones irked me at times, sometimes too predictable or too ridiculous. I'm glad to know how the story ends but I don't think I will watch them again.

  2. I've been wondering which Kdramas to give a chance to! How are you enjoying She Was Pretty? do you recommend it?

I've been binge-netflixing Million Pound Menu (it's like Shark Tank, but for restaurants), just started watching The Crown, and am slowly making my way through BoJack Horseman and Great British Baking Show.

    1. What are you looking for in a Kdrama? That way I will be able to give you better recommendations!
I liked She Was Pretty but I would probably recommend starting with something else like What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, W or Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo.

      Loved The Crown as well!

  3. I'm glad you got to spend New Year's with your grandmother. I hope that your return to teaching will go smoothly tomorrow and that you'll have some downtime for reading/blogging. Have a great week!

  6. I am so glad your grandmother was able to spend New Year's with you. It's easy for many of us to take mobility for granted.Iwish I could have this week off too. Even a day. The last of my company left today, and all I want to do is take advantage of an empty house! I could read and binge watch stuff I want to see rather than everyone else ... Alas, I have to work. Oh well.

It sounds like your year has gotten off to a good start. I still need to read a Robin Hobb book. Have a great week, Lynn!

  7. Sorry about the Christmas and New Year problems, but I’m glad it mostly worked out. I still haven’t seen the Hobbit films. I loved that book when I was a kid.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

  8. Well in the end you had a lovely New Years. I don't watch much of anything. I do want to go see Mary Poppins Returns. I mostly read or work on things while listening to audiobooks. Those Robin Hobb books are Loooooooooong, so that's good. I hope it goes well with back to the routine. Anne - Books of My Heart
