Life

Life sucks at the moment. I was hoping I could return to the school where I taught last year, but Friday evening I saw on the Facebook page of someone I used to study with that she has started working as a Dutch and English teacher at that school while I didn't even receive a reply. To say it hurt is an understatement. Oh, and it was my birthday yesterday. It did not feel happy at all. Luckily, my friend is coming over today, so hopefully I can keep my mind of it. 

In other news, I did pass my driving exam this week! 

Blog and books

Still in a big reading slump, so I didn't read anything this week.

Movies and TV Shows

Kdrama has been my lifesaver this week! I am really enjoying it and helps relaxing me. I have watched Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and it was fantastic! I also started Secret Garden but was a little bored, I will get back to it soon, though!

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books to Pull You Out of a Reading Slump

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme  which was previously hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week bloggers post their top ten on a previously suggested topic. This week's topic is Ten Books to Pull You Out of a Reading Slump. When I scrolled back I noticed it's my first Top Ten Tuesday post this year, it's about time I got back to it because I missed this!

As I am currently in a reading I may need to pick one of these to read as well. Usually, I just watch Netflix or read a totally different genre to get out of the slump, but for now I am content to continue watching Kdrama until things calm down a little.

These are my top ten books to get you out of a reading slump!

Let's start with some comics!

1. Giant Days by John Allison

I often reach for a comic when I feel like I'm in a slump. Changing genres or formats can help me a lot.

2. I Hate Fairyland by Skottie Young

3. Adulthood Is a Myth by Sarah Andersen

This is a collection of comics and some of them are about books and reading. 

Now, I also tend to reach for romance novels when I'm in a reading slump because they are usually fun, easy to read and short.

4. The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

This is one of my favourite books ever, can't wait to reread this for the fifth time!

5. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda (Creekwood #1) by Becky Albertalli 

This was such a fun read! I also really recommend the movie!

6. Geekerella by Ashley Poston

A fun Cinderella retelling about a convention and cosplay.

Sci-fi and fantasy books:

7. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

This is one of my favourite young adult sci-fi series! There are four books, one novella and two comics in this series! My favourite is still Cress, though!

8. Illuminae (The Illuminae Files #1) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

This story is told through a collection of documents which makes you fly through it in no time!

9. A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic #1) by V.E. Schwab

This is a fantastic fantasy series! Can't wait to see how the story continues in the comics!

10. Starflight by Melissa Landers 

I couldn't put this book down when I first read it. I was hooked from page one!

Life

Not much to report this week, I've been trying to apply for jobs and practising my driving. The WIFI and Bluetooth on my phone suddenly stopped working and apparently that's a common problem with Huawei P8 Lite. Definitely do not recommend that one, I am going to return it to get it fixed but since I'm applying for jobs I need a phone, so I will have to buy a new one.

Blog and books

I'm in a reading slump, so I haven't read anything lately. This week, I shared my July wrap up and a new Can't Wait Wednesday post.

Movies and TV Shows

I have been watching Netflix instead of reading and I finished Boys Over Flowers which is quite unbelieve and has so many flaws. I thought I would check out the new adaption Meteor Garden and it is still very flawed.

I'm currently watching and adoring What's Wrong with Secretary Kim? and I am definitely going to finish that TV show soon!

July 2018 Wrap Up

These are the nine books I read in July. I was able to read all the books I chose for the Tome Topple Readathon but I needed more than two weeks to do so. I'm very happy I was able to read so much this month!

1. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton 

I really enjoyed this sci-fi mystery thriller and I highly recommend it! 5 stars!

2. Aquicorn Cove by Katie O'Neill

I got this e-arc from Netgalley and you can find my review here.

3. Sweet Tooth, Volume 2: In Captivity by Jeff Lemire

I liked this better than the first volume! Hoping to continue the series soon! 4 stars!

4. The City of Brass (The Daevabad Trilogy, #1) by S.A. Chakraborty 

This book was amazing! Can't wait to read the sequel! 5 stars!

5. The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang 

This is one of my favourite books I read this year even though it can be very brutal. 5 stars! Highly recommend this one. 

6. Traitor's Blade (Greatcoats, #1) by Sebastien de Castell

This was good but after two great fantasy reads it did not live up to my very high expectations. I am however very excited to read the sequel as I believe the next book will be better. 4 stars.

7. The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter

I enjoyed the title story and some fairy tales at the end. However, I did not like all her stories and was often confused. 3 stars.

8. The Supervillain and Me by Danielle Banas

This was such a fun and cute read. A little predictable but I really enjoyed it! 3,5 stars.

9. The Honeymoon Trap by Christina Hovland

Life

Not much to report this week, I'm practicing for my driver's exam and I have been watching Netflix. I'm slowly getting nervous about the end of the summer holidays because I still don't know what I'll be doing in September. I'll have to wait until the end of August to know more.

Blog and books

This week I posted my review of The Honeymoon Trap, a new Can't Wait Wednesday Post and Stacking the Shelves Post. Currently not reading much but I really wanted to start The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You, so I hope to do so soon!

Next week I will be sharing my July Wrap Up, Can't Wait Wednesday post and Sunday Post. I might add a review as well.

Movies and TV Shows

I have been curious for some time now about the appeal of kdrama. So, when I found some on Netflix I decided to start watching them. The first one I started watching was Boys over Flowers which is good but I think the main character shouts too much. I also watched Full House which was good but shouldn't have had so many episodes.

Do you have any recommendations about foreign films or series? 

I also watched The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. The movie is okay, fun and about books, but ultimately nothing special.
